More than 180 mayors from around the country are resolving to make solar energy a core component to their city’s long-term energy strategy, and they’re asking other leaders to join them. In a letter released by Environment America, the bi-partisan group of U.S. mayors from 42 states write that “accelerating the growth of solar will reduce pollution while revitalizing our communities by creating jobs and keeping energy dollars in our local economies.” They also note that “solar energy can and should be a much larger part of our energy mix than it is today.”
According to Environment America, America’s major cities play a key role in the clean energy revolution, as they are major sources of electricity demand. We applaud the mayors’ recent efforts!
